What is Acyclovir?
Acyclovir eye ointment is used for Herpes simplex virus infections, Skin infection, Mucous membrane infection, Immunocompromised patients, Chickenpox, Initial episodes of herpes genitalis, Herpes simplex encephalitis, Neonatal herpes simplex virus infection and other conditions. Acyclovir eye ointment may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Acyclovir eye ointment contains Acyclovir as an active ingredient.
Acyclovir eye ointment works by inhibiting and inactivating HSV-specific DNA polymerases that prevent viral DNA synthesis.

The following is a list of possible side-effects that may occur from all constituting ingredients of Acyclovir eye ointment. This is not a comprehensive list. Before using Acyclovir eye ointment, inform your doctor about your current list of medications, over the counter products (e.g. vitamins, herbal supplements, etc.), allergies, pre-existing diseases, and current health conditions (e.g. pregnancy, upcoming surgery, etc.). Some health conditions may make you more susceptible to the side-effects of the drug. Take as directed by your doctor or follow the direction printed on the product insert.
